Waterfall Resort's 2024 Fishing Season Highlights

Waterfall Resort's 2024 fishing season has been eventful with remarkable catches and intense competition in the King of King Salmon Tournament. Let's dive into some of the season's top catches and the exciting details of the ongoing tournament.

Notable Catches of the Season

  1. Halibut:

    • Alex Hamblin from Lehi, UT, kicked off the season with a massive 184.6 lb halibut on June 12.
    • Steve Hamlin from Las Vegas, NV, just recently topped the list with his 215.4 halibut on July 29th
    • Mike Strawbridge from Apex, NC, followed with a 168.8 lb halibut on July 25.
    • Bernard Lau from Plano, TX, landed a 164.6 lb halibut on July 4.

Ling Cod:

  • Neal Lester from Wake Forest, NC, caught a 58.6 lb ling cod on July 25, guided by Silas, featured below.
  • Bob Hogan from Oro Valley, AZ, reeled in a 43.7 lb ling cod on July 5.
  • Chris Rye from Tacoma, WA, caught a 34 lb ling cod on June 8.

  1. Silver Salmon:

    • Jeff Kueber from Helena, MT, caught a 12.1 lb silver salmon on July 26, guided by Jeff.

  2. King Salmon:

    • Jim Lockhart from West Sacramento, CA, landed a 59.5 lb king salmon on July 20, guided by Bryan (featured image above).
    • Neal Buisman from Kernville, OR, caught a 48.3 lb king salmon on June 19.
    • Robert Konoske from College Grove, TN, reeled in a 37.9 lb king salmon on July 1.
    • Isla Dowst from Marlow, NC, caught a 36.9 lb king salmon on June 24th. 

King of King Salmon Tournament

The King of King Salmon Tournament is one of the most anticipated events of the season. It features daily, weekly, and season-end awards, making every fishing trip potentially rewarding. The tournament offers various prizes, including:

  • Daily Winners: Recognition, a Waterfall Resort cap, and entry into the season-end drawing for a Ford F-150 truck.
  • Weekly and Monthly Winners: Opportunities to win return trips, merchandise, and more.
  • Season-End Prizes: The angler with the largest king salmon of the season wins $10,000 and a 3-night return trip​ 

This year's tournament has seen some fierce competition, with anglers striving to land the biggest king salmon and secure their place on the leaderboard.
